Our NYFW Shows

So many original creations in a single night.

Friday night in New York we saw contemporary pieces out of Saudi Arabia by Mayan, deconstructed tailoring by Christy + You, the latest range of Poli + Jo’s iconic bags, powerful plus-size style by Rene' Tyler, exceptional hand embroidery by Manishii, rock-inspired jewelry by NadineByNadia, original cultural pieces by Samantha Darryanto, Los Angeles flavour by Matt Sarafa, experimental textiles by MVR and playful silhouettes by Na Yeong Baek.

The collections were beautiful and compelling. Each one pulling on the cultural experiences of the designer who created it. Taken as whole the collections represent an insight into a vast diversity of experiences. You can find every look that launched last night on our website and, if you weren't in the room last night, you can still live the show through the livestream below.

Trust Paris to put on a show.

17 independent designers. 135 original looks.

Jorge Salazar opened with strong colour and elegant silhouettes, Lula Martinez brought beautiful cuts with dashes of detailed playfulness and Tom Foolery introduced us to practical playsuits merging 1970s California with the vibrant, rhythmic power of the Malindi woman.

Gessica Collective demonstrated the relationship between design and social movements. Aspect Doré chose Paris to show what cannot be shown back home in Saudi Arabia. Körsbär introduced a neo-bohemian as a relief from the expectations of Paris fashion.

Allison Nicole Design, Kathy Issa Couture and Avelina de Maier all practiced in dropping jaws and widening eyes. From the USA, Israel and Paraguay respectively - each with their uniquely inspired intricate collections.

That is just a taste of nine out of the seventeen collections launched in Paris. You can see eight below courtesy of our friends at Elle and Harpers Bazaar. Follow the links to review the best of independent design in Paris this season.
