Each day more innovative and environmentally responsible, the
Portuguese industry will have a prominent presence in Neonyt Berlin,
the trade show that specializes in sustainable fashion, which will
take place from January 14th to 16th, in the context of Berlin
Fashion Week.
Marita Moreno, Vintage For a Cause and Zouri are the Portuguese
brands that will exhibit at the Berlin fair, with the support of
Associação Selectiva Moda’s From Portugal project. The three
Portuguese stands are also joined by a sustainable showcase, put
together by the Green Circle project, which will feature a selection
of models, entirely created by Portuguese designers, using
sustainable materials from the Portuguese industry.
“This event is a reference in the sustainable fashion universe, and
it also acts to raise awareness on the importance of combining
sustainability with technology and innovation,” explains Marita
Setas Ferro, Marita Moreno’s CEO & designer. The Portuguese brand -
which recently won the sustainability award at Momad Madrid - will
present in Berlin a new collection of bags, backpacks, shoes and
sneakers made from sustainable materials such as cork, bio-leather
and recycled microfibre, among others.
With a similar strategy, Zouri is also betting on sustainable and
innovative materials to stand out before the international markets.
“All the materials we use are somehow sustainable. We will present
footwear collections for adults and children, with soles made from
plastics collected on the Portuguese coast. We also work with other
responsible materials such as organic cotton, flax, hemp and pinatex,
a material made from pineapple residues. ”
This vast exhibition of sustainable products will be crowned by
another edition of Green Circle. First presented at Modtissimo, at
Alfândega do Porto, the project has been being presented at
international fairs for a year now. The latest models, designed by
Portuguese designers and made from Portuguese sustainable materials,
promise to dazzle at the Berlin Fair.
The Portuguese companies participation in Neonyt is an initiative of
Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of
Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of
Portuguese fashion companies. The project “From Portugal” is
cofinanced by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational
Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an
eligible support amount of €11.042.311,82, of which €6.065.501,91
comes through the European Regional Development Fund.
